@joehsmash i see many people say to put the accelerometer at the nozzle head to replicate at the printing source. i did not do this however and i simply placed the accelerometer on the top of my motor and called it good enough.

      @joehsmash
A bent pin is often to blame if the BLTouch sticks.
You can unscrew the BLTouch at the top, there is a grub screw in there. Remove these and you can take the pin out of the top of the BLTouch.
I left the opening blank on mine so I don't have to remove the BLTouch from the printhead.
I can remove the grub screw and then take a magnet that pulls the pin up and I can remove it.
But you can also put the Allen key in the opening after removing the grub screw. The pin has a small magnet at the top end which then gets stuck on the Allen key.

When the pin is removed, you can better see in which direction it is bent.
It should be carefully heated (pin made of plastic) before bending it back.

It can quickly happen that the BLTouch hits any part of the printer with the pin extended and the pin bends.

Of course you can extend the pin and if necessary you can see in which direction the pin is bent without having to remove the pin.

If there are still problems with the pin getting stuck even after you have straightened the pin, it may help to sand the pin smooth with very fine wet sandpaper.

I would advise against oil because oil can increase the problem because it sticks the pin to the inside of the BLTouch housing or the oil is too aggressive and softens the plastic.

      P.S.:
The BLTouch must be installed very straight, it should not be tilted to any side, mounted on the print head.
Otherwise it can also lead to the pin having problems falling down under its own weight because it rests on the side of its guide and friction occurs.

      Google Translate
      -- Original Text --

      https://betrue3d.dk/bltouch-on-duet-wifi-configuratio-and-usage/#wiring

This guide is quite old and not updated for RRF3.

Repost your config with your current changes if you want a final sanity check.

Sending M98 P"config.g" can also be helpful as it will report any syntax errors in your config which can give you a hint on what is wrong.

@JoergS5 it was def super weird, i do remember because i had to move the probing to the centre of the bed, i had to be very aware of where the head was, so i shrunk the build volume to confirm, and i guess i never swapped it back.

maybe one day ill mess with it to make it bigger

      thank you though!

and to @Phaedrux you guys are the bomb.com

just wasnt sure on how to call them!

@Phaedrux thank you for your examples theres a lot of good stuff in here that i may or may not borrow when and if i can get this new layer shifting issue fixed.

      thanks again!

@Phaedrux correct. The nc switches are currently in an inverted state in the firmware.

Im not an expert on gcode but is there no way to compare marlin to rrf and import some features?

Also im not worried about the weight. More about the physical size.

@zapta i have considered it, how ever with my current set up and how the x carriage is built i cant really put a bl touch on to it because theres just no where to mount it.

once i get this dialed in i am considering re designing my x carriage and re printing something that will allow me to go with a bl or something of the sort.

Ive decided to scrap all of this and i tore off my crappy ir probe and went back to my z switches. i cant get any repeatability out of it, one small nudge and everything is gone.

      @Phaedrux YASSSSSSSSS

      that totally fixed it.

the manual level fixed all the issues... now to get to perfecting my first layer again!

instead of the bed being off by a whopping 1.5m its only a 0.250 deviation off of a 0.2 thickness feeler!

      loving it!

how do i mark as solved?

@aidar ive already ripped through all of that,

at the end of the day, the zprobe ir differential just isnt a sensitive enough probe on my machine.

manually leveling the bed was the way to go

instead of it being 1.5mm off the whole bed, its only actually 0.25 deviation across the whole bed off a 0.2 feeler gauge.

      from this
      probing.JPG

      to this
      manual probe.JPG .

thanks for trying to sort me out though i really appreciate it!

The IR sensor doesn't work well on plain glass. It can work well enough for most purposes if there are no coatings on the glass and there is a Matt black surface underneath it. So if your printer uses a glass bed on top of a bed with lettering on it, put a sheet of black paper under the glass.

Black glass would probably work well, but is hard to find.

@deckingman said in extruder doesnt have any torque ( Cant move anything):

Maybe I read something wrong here

I think the difference is that he's still on RRF2.

@Dougal1957 said in extruder doesnt have any torque ( Cant move anything):

spaces after the P would maybe cause that error!

      That could be.

@dc42 excuse my ignorance, but is there something i need to do if it IS working in digital mode? i purchased this unit from jim who built it in the us.

on the board, i have a vcc,gnd and signal. currently i just have the signal pin plugged into the z probe header, gnd and z probe in, it is powered via the 5v off the panel due header.
