@tom_lauerman it was a recent change for the panel due port on the duet 3 to make it a general purpose port rather than pre defined as a paneldue port. Seeing as it was the only predefined port. Now to enable the panel due the baud rate must be defined.

I just ran into this ... and I am running the latest Firefox.

<sigh> .... any way to fix this that doesn't involve going back to an ancient version of DWC

If you ran DWC 1.22.6 in the past then it will still be on your SD card. To access it, in your browser address bar enter the IP address of the Duet followed by /reprap.htm

@Danal Wow, your setup sounds fascnatng. I may get there eventually, but am presently looking at a simpler solution that maybe later gets more complex. I'm using clay like you would use in an art studio, not a more watery slip. If interested, I've posted some images on this forum of my setup - you can just check my profile to find. I use a Duet Wifi, but may switch to the Duet 3 in the near future (to add more extruders). I use the latest firmware generally. Thanks for your insights and interest!

@tom_lauerman said in What is the Maximum # of Stepper Drivers for Duet 2 & 3?:

Duet 3 can total more than this, apparently by having more than one expansion board

Fun discussion of theory above... in physical reality, I have a Duet 3 6HC, six drivers, and two 3HC expansions, 3 each, total 12. Already beyond Duet 2 + Duex5 limit of 10. The chained expansions work flawlessly.

This is on a tool changing printer; it is possible I'll go even further in a single printer, as I want to drive some movement of a camera and a probe that assist with tool-to-tool alignment.

I'm also confident that there are others with even larger, currently deployed, real world implementations.

With the makerbot versions I found removing all the surface mount components left me with a normally closed switch. Works fine for me, but you would loose the noise filtering which would place more emphasis on wire routing, and other electro magnetic interference management techniques such as shielding, twisted wire pairs etc.

I'd raised the request for a configurable threshold voltage on the limits switches rather than plane on-off years ago but not sure it is possible without Duet hardware re-work.

Edit: Reverse engineer the circuit diagram before stripping components to ensure this will work for you too!

@tom_lauerman said in Must mixing ratios add up to a sum of 1?:

      @deckingman Thanks for the clarification.

No worries. For info, as others have said, the most usual case for mixing is with a mixing hot end where, if the sum of the ratios does not add up to unity it would lead to under or over extrusion. I know of one instance where a beta tester of one machine set a mixing ratio leading to massive over extrusion and the resultant pressure actually blew the hot end appart. I did suggest that this is a dangerous possibility and that there ought to be a some mechanism in the firmware to prevent this happening unless people really knew what they were doing but nothing ever came of it.

@jhonf441 Hello again, I maybe made that sound more complex than it is, here goes again:

In my slicing program under filament diameter I use a value of 50mm.
Also in the slicing program, I set the nozzle diameter for the printer to 1mm.

The slicing program knows from these settings just the right rate of speed at which to advance the plunger through the syringe, because I have an extruder e-step value that is accurate. If I send a command to extrude 10mm the plunger moves downward 10mm.

Many other tweaks can be made, such as "flow multiplier" in the slicer, or realtime extruder motor adjustments in the Duet web interface for fine tuning.

The speed of the auger in my tool can be adjusted independently as well in the Duet web interface. However, the auger isn't really pulling the clay through the feed tube, just helping avoid lag or oozing.

I hope that makes more sense.

      Thanks Phadrux,
I'm back home now and to my relief the Duet board is just fine. It is indeed a Windows issue that might be somewhat specific to the particular Surface I'm using. I suspect the 1(!) USB port my surface has is somewhat damaged.

At any rate, lesson learned, always have a plan B.

I'll say this is solved, even though some Windows issue remains, but that would be for a Windows forum somewhere to solve.

Now . . . back to printing as usual.

@tom_lauerman I'm using my phone right now so it's difficult to cut and paste links. There is a sticky at the top of each category that gives guidance for creating new topics which includes how to mark a post as solved. Another way is simply to edit your first post and add the word "Solved" to the title.
It just makes life a little easier for those who help others if there are a few less topics to read through.

@deckingman Many thanks to all of you Ians for getting this sorted. The printer is moving just the way I was hoping it would, with the teeter totter effect. Now I've got to load material, do some printing, and make lots of tests and adjustments, etc. I'll post some images when I've made some more progress, hopefully soon. This forum is really great!

@ericrane Please start a new thread for your issue. It isn't related to the issue described by the original poster, which is over a year old. Please see the post here about how to ask for support, eg details required etc. https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/5909/guide-for-posting-requests-for-help

Make sure you say which filament sensor do you have. Most likely, it's your wiring. Either it's connected incorrectly, or the wiring is faulty (poorly crimped terminals). Check continuity on the wires. Post your config.g so we can see how it is set up.

But please start a new thread, do not reply to this one.
