@superkevdogg driver 3 and 4 Step/Dir signals do not share a common buffer IC but 2 and 3 or 4 and 5 do.

      https://github.com/Duet3D/Duet3-Mainboard-6XD/blob/master/v1.0/Duet3_MB_6XD_Schematic_v1.0.pdf

Those buffers provide some protection but maybe you fed VMOT into them?

@RockB said in NPN Inductive Proximity Sensor as an axis End Stop:

Just to confirm, only one pin (io[#].in) is used out of the 5 pin IOs.

Yes, that's correct. You can still use the other pins on the io connector if you want/need.

When connecting sensor (+) and GND to PSU, it should be the same PSU powering the VIN in duet right? to maintain common GND

Yes, or if using a separate PSU, tie the PSU GNDs together. You could connect the sensor positive to V_FUSED from an unused heater output, or from the fan power jumper selector (if accessible) or a fan header (with fan selector on V_FUSED) assuming the probe doesn't draw much current (please check first!), which would offer a bit of protection with the fuse. You can connect GND to the ground pin on the IO connector.

Sure. I will explore on the Duet3Expansion and with RpiBuild. I think then Duet3Expansion boards works only CAN ports.. Isn't it??

Yes, the expansion boards communicate with the main board via CAN. As the Duet firmware is already set up to send movement commands over CAN, an expansion board with suitable firmware could translate those commands to DAC inputs to drive the galvo.

@achrn I'm glad it's working for you. If the thermistor in the PINDA is a 100K thermistor, then at the range of temperatures that the probe is likely to experience, the difference between VSSA and GND wont make much difference. There would be a greater error at higher temperatures.

@DIY-O-Sphere It's working! I went to take a picture of my jumper set-up and accidentally "nudged" the cable connecting the 5V pin and PS_ON pin. My PSU turned on... I can now turn it on and off my PSU with M80 and M81 commands. I will double check the connections next time. Thanks a lot for your help, will mark this as resolved.

      @moth4017
Thanks for the help! I will try these suggestions tomorrow. I suspect they will solve the issue.

Also. I appreciate the link. The Duet support team is great and the documentation is phenomenal. Sometimes, it becomes a bit overwhelming and I don't see the trees for the forest. As in this case. The information is all there and I will have to do a better job finding it in the future. Thanks again to both of you for responding..

@Buhefade cs0 is reserved for the PanelDue SD card. If you don't have a DueX connected, you can use one of the additional endstop inputs on the expansion connector for the accelerometer CS pin.

Yes, that would blow either the fuse or a trace on the PCB.

Some good news! (sorry if I don't use the right technical terms).

More information about the printer that electrical members mentioned:

the motor cables are long (more than 2m for Y and more than 1m for X) and not shielded (we changed this at the end). the X and Y motors are bigger than needed (we are moving them with 2.5A but they are least 6A). the 24V cable to the Board 3 6HC is 1m and I belive there are 5m to the scanner.

Yesterday, we removed the ferrites and measured with a probe the 24V line. Just turning on Y motor was enough to see how the noise increased a lot. As the motor cables and the 24V cables travel next to each other in the printer, they believe there is interferance. The next step was to change the motor cables for shielded ones and it improved the results.

Today, the line filters arrived and after installing them, the problem seams to be solved. One filter is close to the extruder+scanner and one is the Board 3 6HC.

@selva_tvi have you looked at the manual for the driver?

      10. Software Configuration The CS-D508 is designed for simple setup and implementation. For most applications no software configuration or tuning is needed especially when driving Leadshine stepper motors with encoders (see Appendix A). If you want to define tuning or custom configurations such as micro-step, current percentage change…, you can use Leadshine’s freeProTuner software to make

You can't use RRF to change anything, you have to hook the driver up to a PC. All RRF does is tell the driver when to move, by how much and in which direction
