Do you mean an axis is running backwards, or the direction reversing? You can reverse an axis with the S parameter on the M569 command. If it's changing direction when it shouldn't be, that's probably a wiring issue that not all leads are properly connected.

I run the Bondtech extruder and have removed all of the second extruder bits to reduce weight as I only run one material.

I replaced the thermocouples in the hot-end with E3D thermisters. I added a PT100 temp sensor to the bed.

Look I've seen now you can import it just go to the cura settings profile and import g-code

Check out this video Slice just posted of one of our machines in action! What they didn't mention is this 200mm tall Spider-man was printed in ABS at 100mm/s (50mm/s external perimeter) in ~8 hours!

It's good to know that it's certainly possible to get this printing in this configuration given that there are larger versions out in the wild printing successfully!

I think those massive corner blocks might actually be contributing to the z possible skipping or jumping since it adds even more weight to an already heavy Z, and since they're only kitty corner from each other, it adds to instability.

Based on everyone's thoughts, this is my plan of attack:

Update printed parts with the newer mod versions that appear much stronger. Specifically the 3 wheel carriages. Thinking of printing in PETG, but open to thoughts on this as well.

For the Open builds steel gantry plates that ride on the verticals, I kind of feel like they're likely stronger than 3D printed because they're steel, but honestly, it seems like all modern D-bots and variants use the 3 wheel adjustable printed version, and I'm thinking there is a reason for that. Anyone have experience with that? Otherwise, I'm considering replacing the steel gantry plates with the 3D printed versions, or design a 3D printed plate to support the other end of the axles at least

Convert to a 3 ball screw configuration with a single z motor drive like Phaedrux shared in his build.

Rather than cut the Z down, I'm considering just moving the rails up and bracing them roughly in the middle of the legs for a shorter but hopefully more robust 400mm cube but still the same height so it can sit on the floor comfortably. Still on the fence about this, since I now think it's possible to get this printing well even at this height with the proper bracing

Add aluminum braces at key corners with all of the screws

Properly tension the belts, they are literally flapping the breeze they're so loose. This might actually be the main cause of the issues with failed prints since I'm positive I could easily jump a tooth on the current belts.

Now printing chain links. A terrain model for modular building modules lies in front of the printer.
BTW I have no idea what is a reasonable max speed and acceleration for this kind of configuration.
And is there something else I could implement here?
Z-Probe and 2 end stops for z axis could be nice. My custom toolchanger has end stop stall detection, why not here?

That's the problem then. Either reduce the cooling effect that the fan has on the hot end (e.g. by putting a silicone sock over the heater block, if it doesn't already have one), or by using a less powerful cooling fan, or by redirecting the fan duct away from the hot end and more towards the print; or tune at a lower temperature.

@piet this issue is triggered by the M291 S2 command in your homeall.g file. I have fixed it in the source code, so the fix will be in RRF 3.4.0 stable.

@jakob yes they do wiggle a little when tightening the screws. As @airscapes suggests, it's bets to hold them.

Very occasionally we see a failed solder joint on these terminals. So to be safe, you might like to inspect the underside of the board and check that the soldering of those terminal blocks looks good.

On later Duets we use barrier strips instead of terminal blocks.

I went back to school in a figurative sense the last two months to learn more about robot kinematics, especially matrix calculations, so there was no development. I'll proceed with building soon.

Core elements are differential screws (I need them at multiple places), encoder support and diy harmonic drive, and finishing the RRF kinematics code. I'll use OpenCV for quality checks, it's a great program, I can recommend the book of Escriva/Laganiere about OpenCV 4.

I'll use OpenCV together with the cameras/lenses for

check the quality of the harmonic drive teeth check printing result while printing CNC position checking, 3D printing object position checking, SMD placement homing position checking measure precision of the kinematics (joints, steppers, belts, pulleys)

The patents of harmonic drives are interesting, I follow inventor Aubin with US5456139, EP0640778, US5662008 and similar from Ishikawa to optimize teeth. I try 3D printed parts first (using PP for the flexspline), but if it's not sufficient change to drilling with CNC with spring steel.
